I bought this book to help my cousins with their upcoming SSAT exam. This is a high-quality book with over 200 pages full of words that can be difficult to remember for some children. SSAT & ISEE vocabulary gives the learner a choice of using either or both, the rhyming of the words to learn and the cartoons that associate with the words. This book is very well thought out with professionally drawn cartoons and great attention to detail. Every word has been put into a few sentences to show you how the words can be used, what the meaning of the word is, what the word rhymes with and the cartoon that goes with the rhyme.A very good book that would be an essential learning tool to help with the SSAT/ISEE exams.Not only is this book good for students that are taking the SSAT & ISEE tests but this would also a great book for anyone that wants to improve their vocabulary.
SSAT & ISEE Vocabulary by J. Stone is a great way to introduce and prepare students at a young age to become successful when standardized testing. This book explains the importance of comprehending and applying vocabulary vs. simple memorization. Important concepts and vocabulary are easily found in bold lettering to insure understanding. This book can also be used as a wonderful dictionary for children. Each page is outlined with a vocabulary word in bold, followed by: the pronunciation, what part of speech the word can be used as, definitions, synonyms, antonyms, rhymes, and full sentences using the word highlighted in bold. Each page includes fun and captivating images to help children visualize for added comprehension.My young cousin, who is ten years old, studied this book and absolutely loved it! She loved reading each page to me and I often found her roaring at the hilarity of the illustrations. She was genuinely interested in the content and occasionally would ask me further questions about a word. She started creating mad libs with the words she had learned from this book and incorporates them in her stories. I feel this book really aided in enriching her vocabulary and I was amazed at how fun and easy it is to understand! I would definitely recommend purchasing this book!
Every person has different learning styles that appeal to them and assist their process. I understand why this book receives many 5 star reviews, and it may well be fantastic for you.For our family, it wasn't a great fit. The cartoons felt silly and unconnected from things we'd remember. Time over, I'd take a different approach to the vocabulary section. I'd recommend trying a couple of different approaches to settle on the best way to tackle learning this area.
My 10 year old daughter actually enjoyed learning vocabulary with the help of this book.AMAZING.Can pace yourself to learn about 10 words at a time. There are cute cartoons with rhymes to help you remember something about each word. After each section there are some practice quizes. Very well done. Helps children learn and remember each word in a fun way.

I bought it for my son of 8th grader, but it was too easy for his level and rather met the level of my daughter of 5th grader. But anyway both my son and daughter like this book.
I think this book is good. Useful for each middle ages students!
I got 75th percentile no thanks to this book. But was still fun.
